Description
This is a research study. Research studies only include people who choose to take part. You are being invited to join a research study because you have an auto immune / immunologic disease.

You are being asked to take part in this study because you were seen at the Pediatric Nephrology Clinic at UC Davis Medical Center for a condition called Antiphospholid Syndrome.

This condition may be caused by different diseases. We hope to learn more about how these diseases and conditions present. We hope to prepare you, your doctor, and others to better diagnose and control it. You will NOT receive any drug as part of this study, other than the ones that your health care provider feels are necessary as part of your routine care.
This study requires

If you decide to take part in this study, you will provide information about your symptoms. You will not have extra visits to the clinic for this study.

Also, the following information about you will be obtained from your medical records:

- demographics (gender and date of birth) - past medical history - family history - clinical manifestations of APS - laboratory findings

No extra procedures will be done. Your medical care will be the same whether you take part in this study or not.

Who can participate

Inclusion criteria:

  • 18 years of age or younger at the onset of disease
  • Presence of Vascular Thrombosis
  • UC Davis patient
  • Presence of at least one Laboratory criteria including: Anticardiolipin antibody, Anti-B glycoprotein-I antibody or Lupus anticoagulant in plasma

Exclusion criteria:

  • Infants born to mothers with APS
  • Infants with congenital thrombophilia

BENEFITS:

You may not personally benefit from taking part in this research. Your health information will help to develop a registry that will increase the amount of information related to your disease.

Your study doctor will talk to you about any potential risks involved with this research study.
