Viral infections are typically treated with antiviral medications as the standard of care. COVID-19 is a particularly new type of coronavirus. It is not yet fully understood if the use the antiviral medication experimental Remdesivir is indicated.

Remdesivir was shown to be active against previous types of coronaviruses referred to as SARS-CoV and MERS-CoV in animals. However, Remdesivir is not FDA approved. The manufacturer, Gilead Sciences Inc., will provide the experimental medicine to for release to patients upon approval by the FDA.

The study doctors are offering to treat COVID-19 patients with Remdesivir. This study is for patients with no standard acceptable treatment options.
This study requires

To treat your infection, you will receive treatment intravenously (via IV that you already have in place). There is a possibility you may need to have an IV placed.

You will be monitored on a regular basis for response. We will review any side effects or concerns that you may observe per instructions from the study doctors.

You will receive the treatment free of charge.

Who can participate

The study team will determine if you are eligible to take part in this study. They will review eligibility criteria with you.

Benefits and risks of participating

We cannot promise any benefits to you as a result of taking part in this research study.

You will not be paid to take part in this research study.
Study duration and period
We expect that the experimental treatment could last up to 10 days. This may be extended at the study doctor's discretion.
