Description
We're looking for people diagnosed with neurofibromatosis type 1 with dermal neurofibromas (soft, pea-sized bumps present on the skin) to participate in a research study.

This study will test a new investigational gel applied to the skin, called NFX-179 gel, developed for dermal neurofibromas. The study gel is not approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

The purpose of this study is to understand if the study gel is safe, is well tolerated, and how your body absorbs and processes it. This study will evaluate three strengths and compare it to a placebo (a gel without the active ingredient).

This study takes place at the Center For Dermatology in Fremont. Board Certified Dermatologists evaluate and care for all research participants. You will receive study medication and study evaluations at no cost, and compensation for your time may be available.

Your participation in this study will last approximately 88 days and includes 7 study visits to the study center:

  • screening visit
  • 4 study treatment visits
  • 2 follow up visits

  • 18 years and older
  • diagnosed with neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1)

To fully determine if you are eligible to participate in this study, the study team will need to verify additional criteria by phone and in-person at the clinic.
