"Thank you for taking the time to consider volunteering to join this COVID-19 Vaccine Research Study"
Age: 12 - 85 years
Keywords: COVID-19, coronavirus, vaccine
Type: Phase 1/2/3, Drug Study
240 Participants
Currently, there are no approved vaccines available to prevent COVID-19, and the disease has spread across the world. Each and every person involved in clinical research plays a powerful role. Volunteering for this study can make a difference as we try to find a potential vaccine to prevent COVID-19.

Every modern vaccine and medicine we have today was studied in hundreds to thousands of people before becoming available to the public. This study overall will enroll up to 44,000 people. By volunteering, you will represent people like you – in age, gender, race, ethnicity, and the communities where you live. Involving people from all backgrounds will improve the development of this vaccine for everyone.

This study involves comparing an investigational vaccine against a placebo (inactive substance) to see if the investigational vaccine can prevent COVID-19. The vaccine is given by injection.
This study requires

In addition to answering any questions you may have, the study doctor will discuss the study risks and potential benefits to help you decide if this is the right study for you.

If you are enrolled in the study, you will be randomly assigned (by chance) to receive the study vaccine or placebo (inactive substance). This assignment will be made by a computer and not by the study team. Neither you nor the study doctor will know if you are receiving a study vaccine or a placebo.

You will receive 2 injections about 3 weeks apart. The study doctor will explain to you when you will have your two injections. After the second injection, you will have additional follow up visits to monitor your health.

Study Visits

  • At each of the 6 planned study visits, the study team will ask about your general health and complete study procedures such as a physical exam.
  • On injection days, the study vaccine or placebo will be given through an injection into the muscle of the upper arm, and nasal swabs will be collected.
  • After the injection, you will be asked to wait at the study site for at least 30 minutes.
  • If you experience symptoms that may be caused by COVID-19, the study team will advise you on how to conduct the testing process.
