Description
This study aims to find out which morning-after pill is most effective in women weighing 176 pounds or more. If you had unprotected sexual intercourse and are looking for birth control options, consider participating.

Emergency contraception, also “the morning-after pill" or "plan b”, can prevent pregnancy after unprotected sexual intercourse. Unprotected intercourse includes no contraceptive used, condom breakage, and other barrier contraceptive method failures.

This clinical study happens at the UC Davis Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. All participants will receive FDA-approved emergency contraception and specialty care at no cost. Compensation for your time is available.
This study requires
  • 1 visit to the clinic and up to 3 follow-up visits (in-person or via telephone).

  • If eligible, you'll receive FDA-approved emergency contraceptive at no cost during your first visit.

Who can participate
  • Be between 18 and 40 (inclusive) years old
  • Have had unprotected intercourse in the last 36 hours
  • Weigh 176 lbs or more
  • Have regular periods (every 21-35 days)
  • Not be currently pregnant or breastfeeding
Compensation
You'll receive FDA-approved emergency contraceptive at no cost and up to $175 for this study.
